2014 Blog 276: A Perk

Thorr and myself has been wondering if there is a chance we can join a bike race next year. First thought is we will need bike racers, and we will need to train. To train, we will need time. I don’t know but it seems not achievable. With the many things we have on our hands right now, it is not easy to make time. Thinking about the practice that we shall need is already making me exhausted. Besides, I can’t imagine buying another pair of more expensive bikes. But yeah, I think it would really be awesome to be able to do.. at least just one race.

What do you think?

2014 Blog 264: Another Lost Love

7 days ago. I was hunting for an old worn out ladder. I thought that maybe I would find it at the second hand store. During my hunting, I saw a really old fashioned bike. It mainly caught my attention because of its rusty looking and inspiring mileage of 2,231 kilometers!
At that time, I didn’t think of taking it home, because I won’t be able to use it anyway. But this morning, I thought it would look nice somewhere at the backyard and show off its inspiring mileage. So today, I rushed back to the same thrifty store. I went around looking…and looking (cause maybe it got moved). I asked, and looked around the whole store. Unfortunately, it is now gone. I recall there was another man who seemed to be eyeing it when I was there last week. I imagine he might have taken it. It was for thirty dollars.
Today, I kept on admiring it on the photo. It is like another lost bike. I guess, it was not meant to be mine. I fell in love with it, lost it, and now letting it to go. When I looked closer at the photo, I realized that it was a Norco Bike! The same brand of bike that got stolen from me 4 months ago. Sigh!

Come on. Can I please have the old Norco Bike?

2014 Blog 249: Four Wheels at Elk Island

bikeatelkislandNo. We did not see an elk in the Elk Island at all.  But it was a breezy nice biking excursion we made.   There was apparently a run and boat race going on. It was beautiful to watch it on the side.

I think there is trouble with my bike though as it was flat again.  Gladly, this time I brought those tiny air shells, so I was able to pump in air right there when we needed it.  The wind was great. The water looked serene.  The blue & gray dragonflies looked so magical. They were flying as if giving us the lead towards our last stop… which was by the 2 red big chairs. It is the one in the photo. It was a lovely surprise.

Today’s ride was my 500th kilometer ride this summer. Oooohlalala.

Thank you for going with me, my dear Thorr.
Can we go for another good bike ride before winter finally comes?

2014 Blog 241: Inflate, Deflate, Borrow

This afternoon, I attempted to pump in air to my bike. And I realized, the tire valve looked different from the bikes we have. Mine is narrower and longer and there is another valve inside. Oh come on. Ugh. And so sure enough, instead of inflating it, I totally deflated it. I tried to figure how I am gonna use the foot air pump with it. I tried and tried until it became totally deflated. Dang.

Oh well.. gladly I still managed to bike before sundown, by borrowing Thorr’s bike, Yeeehaaah. Thanks Thorr, your bike just kinda look like mine.

Can I borrow your bike?

2014 Blog 173: Imaginary Marathon – High Level

Yes, I have been still recording my daily walks and daily bikes.  But I have not been counting my totals recently, so I am surprised to realize that I am now close to my goal!  So far, I have hiked 462 kms and biked 338 km. Biking outdoors has definitely given me a boost. I think I have been getting on the pedals more often this summer than I had last year (or any other year).   I am feeling great.  I have the feeling that I just might meet my 1000 km goal by just end of summer.   So,  I am now contemplating with the idea that I should just probably increase my goal?  Or, nah.  Maybe as a reward, just cruise forward and see how far I  shall go?

On the map, I’d be along High Level, MacKenzie Hwy.
Just about 800 Kilometers away from home.  Yeeeha!

2014 Blog 157: Lone Ranger

5:30 pm:  It is friday and I can’t wait to get on my bike (and someday on the jeep of my dreams). I relish it when my husband comes along.  I become the Mamacita.  I love it when my children follow.  I become the Mother Goose.  I am delighted when I come across my brother.  We become Hansel and Gretel.   And on some days, when I am on my own,  I just become the Lone Ranger.  It is alright.   It’s just a time to move on my own pace (not to isolate myself), a time to reflect (not to worry), and a time to revive my independence (not loneliness).  I wonder, what would it be tonight.

8:45 pm: Indeed, I was a lone ranger tonight, just scrambling and sweeping a trail of 13 km around the neighborhood. I saw some usual faces who were doing the same.

Come bike?

2014 Blog 140: To Wander or To Loosen

So after work today, there was debate that wrestled in my mind. It is between yoga and bike. I have registered myself for a hot yoga class this afternoon. The problem is that the weather is so nice for a bike ride too. So I have contemplated a bit as to which one I should do. No. I can’t do both tonight. I have other plans for the rest of the night too you know. So what reason is good that I should do yoga? Uhmmm, because I have skipped it already all week long, and I think my body needs to loosen a bit, and because my one month pass will end in 7 days which I don’t intend to renew for the rest of the summer because I think I will be spending more time outdoors. So what reason is good that I should go biking? Uhmmm, because I like the breeze, and I like to wander whether I retrace an old path or explore a new one, and the weather tonight is just absolutely nice.

So skip yoga tonight?

2014 Blog 139: Weekend Afterwards

The weekend, spontaneous as it was planned, came out to be a shuffle of bike rides, shopping, napping, eating out, dreaming,  doodling, and evening movies.

I think a weekend highlight would be the dreaming that formalized as a spontaneous business decision, which I am still excited about.  I had a good feeling about it.  Whether it was a right investment or not, we’ll see a year from now.  Sometimes, we just have to take a leap of faith.

parsons_bikeAnother weekend highlight was the spontaneous rides on two wheels.     I scooted just within the city. Just meandering, I  gained 55 kilometers of bike ride at the end.

It was marvelous and tiring and felt so good afterwards.  Sometimes, you don’t have to go too far to make these little adventures.

Can’t wait for another weekend wonder?
